This module looks at the use of the syringe driver in cancer pain management.  The syringe drive is commonly used in palliative medicine for inpatients and patients in the community.   This often comes as a surprise to both patients and health care professionals, as it is commonly thought of as a "last resort".  Hopefully this module will help you to become familiar with its use.

• list the indications for using a syringe driver
• be able to correctly write out a prescription for a syringe driver
• list some commonly used drug combinations
• name some sources for checking drug compatibility in syringe drivers
